Next Sunday, 10.12.2017, the new timetable for all trains in Bulgaria, including the Rhodope Narrow Gauge, comes into effect. This will happen at 00:00 AM on Sunday, which means that the first narrow-gauge train to depart at a new time will be 16101, leaving Septemvri at 02:05 AM.
The number of trains on the narrow-gauge remains the same with the exception of the early morning local commute train 16220 "Kleptuza" from Velingrad to Septemvri which will only be running on workdays.
You can download the new timetable HERE.
Another major change is the time of departure of the evening train 16108 "Mesta" from Dobrinishte to Septemvri. It will run one hour earlier to provide a ride home for the people working in Bansko and living in Yakoruda, as well as a fast connection in Septemvri to the main line train to Plovdiv and Pazardzhik.
However, the biggest news about the new timetable is the introduction of a newly overhauled buffet car on the most touristic and busy train of the day - trains 16103/16106 "Rodopi", Septemvri 08:31 - Dobrinishte 13:20 - Dobrinishte 14:10 - Septemvri 19:04. This way you can have a snack or two on the way through the breathtaking nature of the Rhodopes. You will also have some more time (50 minutes) for a quick walk around Dobrinishte before you head back to Septemvri.
