How to get there:
The Rhodope Narrow Gauge is a regular train service of the Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ). You can get on and travel from every station or stop along the route, the main ones being Septemvri, Velingrad, Yakoruda, Razlog, Bansko and Dobrinishte. There are 4 trains per day in both directions. If you are not situated in any of the towns listed above, you have several options to visit the Rhodope Narrow Gauge:
There are numerous connections to Septemvri every day from almost every town in Central and South Bulgaria.
If you wish to travel with the Rhodope Narrow Gauge and you are coming by train to Septemvri, we recommend that you buy a ticket directly to your desired destination along the narrow-gauge line from your station of departure. For example, if you are coming from Sofia and wish to go to Dobrinishte, just ask for a ticket to Dobrinishte at the ticket desk, instead of buying a ticket only to Septemvri first.
You can find the timetable of trains that connect to the Rhodope Narrow Gauge HERE or preferably through the online-routeplanner of BDZ. If you need any assistance with planning your trip, please don't hesitate to write to us! We will be happy to help!
You can also come to station Septemvri by car. There is no guarded parking lot near the station but the local police department is located right next to it and parking on the street in front of it is relatively safe. You can leave your car there for a day or two and catch the train.
If you are coming from District Blagoevgrad, we recommend that you drive to Razlog, Bansko or Dobrinishte and board the Rhodope Narrow Gauge from there.
There are busses from Blagoevgrad to Razlog, Bansko and Dobrinishte, which you can also use to reach the narrow-gauge. For their timetables, please check at the respective bus station.
